SUMMER PERFORMING ARTS INSTITUTE CONVENTION

August 6-9, 2026
The Summer Performing Arts Institute Convention offers targeted musical theatre instruction for participants ages 8-22 (grouped by age and skill level). Participants will work with production staff members who are experts in their fields during these incredible few days of learning! Participants will learn and enhance skills in their chosen electives and the weekend will culminate with performances for the participants to showcase what they worked on.
Schedule:
We can’t wait to have you in the 2026 Summer Performing Arts Institute Convention! Thursday and part of Saturday will be elective training, and Friday, part of Saturday, and Sunday will be preparing for the performances. *See elective schedule below.
Thursday and Friday from 4:15-8:30 p.m.
Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Sunday from 9:00-3:30 (with performances on Sunday at 4:00 and 5:00)
Registration:
Register by August 2nd in order to rate your top choice electives. You will receive a follow-up form by email after you register asking you to fill out your top elective choices. We will do our best to accommodate your top choices. A welcome email will be sent with more details and your final elective schedule by 9pm on Wednesday, August 5th.
Please note, participants registering after 9pm on Sunday, August 2nd will not be able to pick their electives and a late fee of $75 will automatically be added to all registrations (online registration and in-person online registration). You will be placed in the elective classes that best fit your age/skill level based upon current elective numbers. Registration will close at 4:15p.m. on Thursday, August 6th.
Age Groups:
Ages 8-11 Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced
Ages 12-16 Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced
Ages 17-22 Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced
May combine ages or levels as needed
Elective Level Options:
Beginner – The beginner level will be geared toward participants who are new to theater or have been in 5 or less productions.
Intermediate – The intermediate level will be geared toward participants who have been in 6-15 productions and attend classes.
Advanced – The advanced level will be geared toward participants who have been in over 15 productions. For dance, they have been actively taking multiple classes, and for voice, they are studying privately with a teacher. Prior permission is necessary in order to enroll in an advanced level elective. Performance Material Saturday from 9:00-4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00-3:30
Using the skills learned on Thursday and Saturday, learn and perform songs and scenes from MTA’s 19th Season! Rehearsals scheduled during the above times are mandatory to participate in the performance portion.
Sunday Performances 4:00 and 5:00 (performance runs about 30 minutes)

Once a class fills up, you will be moved to your second or third selection.

Performance Information:
Performances will be a combination of skills learned during elective days and content from MTA’s upcoming 19th season of shows! Tickets will be available for purchase for patrons to come and see what participants have learned. The performances will be on Sunday, August 9th at 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. and will be approximately 30 minutes in length. Each participant is in both performances where the same material will be featured.
A digital copy will be available for purchase of MTA’s Summer Performing Arts Convention 2026. Within 3 business days after a production has been recorded, cast members and parents will receive an email with a link to purchase and download the video to their choice of device. The link used to purchase a digital copy can be forwarded by the cast members and parents, making it easier for family and friends to also purchase and download a copy of the production recording.
